Cyber Insurance

A cyber incident can interrupt operations, expose information and require a coordinated response. Cyber insurance should be reviewed across those different consequences, alongside the security measures and recovery plans already in place.

Who it is for

Businesses relying on digital systems, stored information or technology providers to serve customers.

Explore the cover

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.
01

Incident response

A policy may provide access to specified technical, legal or communication support following a covered incident. Confirm who can appoint advisers and when insurer consent or notification is required.

02

Systems, data and interruption

Restoring data and systems is different from measuring lost income during an outage. Check covered causes, waiting periods, recovery costs and the treatment of external service providers.

03

Claims from others

Privacy or security allegations can create third-party liability and defence costs. Territorial limits, policy definitions and the handling of regulatory proceedings need specific review.

04

Payment fraud is a separate question

An email scam or voluntarily authorised transfer is not automatically a cyber loss. Discuss social engineering and crime wording separately, together with payment-verification procedures.

Information for quotations

Describe activities, data held, critical systems and vendors, security controls, backups, incident response and prior incidents. Do not send passwords or sensitive records in an initial enquiry.

Limitations and exclusions to discuss

Discuss insured incidents, vendor dependencies, interruption conditions, crime overlap, exclusions and access to assistance. Do not assume an in-house Aushine technical response team.

Frequently asked questions

If a provider hosts our systems, can we ignore the risk?
No. Explain what the provider runs and how your operations depend on it. Outsourcing does not itself establish the scope of insurance.
Are equipment failure and a cyber incident the same?
No. An unusable system can have different causes. Identify the event and compare the relevant equipment, interruption and cyber terms.
