Commercial Motor & Fleet

Commercial motor and fleet insurance follows the vehicles used in your operation. A fleet can have different vehicle types, drivers and jobs, so one broad label is not enough to describe the risk.

Who it is for

Businesses using commercial vehicles, from a small operating fleet to mixed vehicle groups.

Explore the cover

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.
01

Vehicles and actual use

Identify vehicles, trailers, attachments, values and finance arrangements. Passenger transport, deliveries and specialist use need clear descriptions.

02

Damage and liability

Compare own-vehicle damage and third-party property liability separately. Driver conditions, excesses, repair arrangements and any replacement-vehicle benefits vary by proposal.

03

Cargo and business dependencies

Motor cover does not automatically insure customers’ goods, your transport liability or lost trading income. Identify those dependencies and review the appropriate separate sections or policies.

Information for quotations

List vehicles, ownership or finance, drivers, actual use, carrying activities, operating areas, modifications and claims history.

Limitations and exclusions to discuss

Vehicle damage, motor liability, goods carried and carrier liability need separate review. Discuss driver restrictions, use, limits, excesses and any downtime benefits.

Frequently asked questions

Does motor insurance automatically cover customers’ goods?
No. The vehicle, the goods and the carrier’s responsibilities are different interests. Explain who owns the goods and how they are carried.
Can we describe all vehicles as private use?
The description should reflect actual use, including deliveries, trade work or other business activities. Discuss the correct vehicle arrangement.
