Who it is for

Business Pack

A Business Pack combines selected sections for the premises, property and everyday activities of a business. You choose the sections relevant to your operation; the package name does not mean everything below is included.

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.
01

Property damage

Buildings, fit-outs, stock and equipment can be considered for loss or damage from insured events. Establish what you own or must insure under the lease, and the appropriate replacement or rebuilding values.

02

Business interruption

After insured property damage, recovery may take longer than repairs. A selected interruption section can address defined income losses and additional expenses, subject to its trigger, calculations and indemnity period.

03

Theft

Consider stock and equipment stolen from your premises. Entry requirements, security conditions and limits for particular property matter; theft cover should not be assumed to cover unexplained shortages.

04

Money

Money at the premises, in a safe or being carried to a bank can involve different limits and conditions. Describe your actual cash handling rather than assuming electronic payment fraud falls within this section.

05

Public and products liability

This addresses specified third-party injury or property-damage claims arising from business activities or products. Review the insured activities and defence-cost terms; professional advice and product recall need separate consideration.

06

Glass

Shopfronts, internal glazing, mirrors and display glass may need specific treatment. Check the definition of insured glass and whether related replacement work is included.

07

Goods in transit

Stock or equipment moving between locations may need a transit section. Identify the goods, journey, transport method and loading arrangements; a premises section alone does not settle the position in transit.

08

Electronic equipment

A breakdown section may address specified electronic equipment failures. Equipment repairs, data recovery and interruption are different costs and need their own wording and limits.

09

Machinery breakdown

Refrigeration, production or other working machinery can stop through an insured breakdown. Discuss repair costs separately from spoiled stock or lost income, which are not automatically included.

10

General property

Tools and portable equipment taken away from the premises need a clear description of where they are used and stored. Check territorial limits, vehicle storage and unattended-property conditions.

11

Tax audit expenses

This section concerns eligible professional fees incurred in responding to a covered tax audit. It should not be described as paying the tax assessed, penalties or every accounting expense.

12

Employee dishonesty

A selected section may address defined direct losses caused by employee dishonesty. Discovery periods, who counts as an employee and financial controls affect the scope.

Before we talk

  • Business activities and all locations
  • Lease, asset values and stock levels
  • Turnover, recovery needs and previous claims

Office Pack

An office package can bring together selected premises, contents and operating sections. The same risks appear in many Business Packs, but the office occupation and available wording determine the arrangement. Professional services and cyber risks need their own review.

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.

09

Professional advice and data

Office property insurance does not automatically insure mistakes in your professional work or a cyber incident. Review Professional Indemnity and Cyber separately.

Before we talk

  • Office activities, location and lease
  • Fit-out, contents and technology values
  • Working locations and existing PI / cyber policies

Trades Pack

Trades work can move between a workshop, a vehicle and a customer’s site. Review the tools and equipment you use alongside liability from the work, with any personal accident or sickness arrangement considered separately.

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.

05

Customer sites and contracts

Explain tasks, subcontracting and responsibilities at each type of site. Do not assume the principal contractor’s policy protects your business.

06

Income and personal benefits

The Trades brochure discusses accident and sickness options. They may be separate policies, with eligibility, waiting periods and benefits to be checked.

Before we talk

  • Your tasks, locations and contracts
  • Tools, hired equipment and storage
  • Turnover, subcontractors and claims

Farm Pack

A farm combines a home, working property, equipment and business activities. A farm package should follow what actually happens on the property, including any contracting, visitor or accommodation activities.

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.
01

Home and farm property

Keep the residence and household belongings distinct from sheds, fencing, equipment and farm stock. Prepare separate values and identify what belongs to the farm business.

02

Working machinery

Machinery damage and mechanical breakdown are different questions. Identify fixed and mobile equipment, seasonal reliance, hired items and the effect of losing a critical machine.

03

Liability from farm activities

Visitors, produce sales and work away from the property change the liability discussion. Describe each activity rather than assuming the acreage or a general farming description is enough.

04

Choose the package around the operation

A farm package is not a universal list of agricultural covers. The selected sections, insured property and any additional activities must appear in the proposal and policy schedule.

Before we talk

  • Activities and locations
  • Buildings, machinery and home values
  • Seasonal work, contractors and diversified uses

Motor Trade Pack

Repair workshops, smash repairers, dealerships and vehicle-care businesses need their activities described precisely. A Motor Trade Pack enquiry brings those needs together, but customer vehicles, road testing and workshop liabilities must be confirmed in a suitable motor-trade wording.

These are areas to discuss, not an automatic inclusion list. Available sections and cover depend on the selected wording and schedule.
01

Premises, tools & stock

Describe the workshop, specialist equipment, parts and security.

02

Customer vehicles

Raise custody, maximum values and overnight storage for specific review.

03

Road testing & movement

Explain who drives, why vehicles are moved and where.

04

Liability from your activities

Describe repair, servicing, sales and any subcontracted work.

05

Interruption to trading

Consider specialist equipment and time needed to resume work.

06

Keep fleet cover distinct

Commercial motor is a related vehicle enquiry, not a substitute for motor trade activities.

Before we talk

  • All activities and premises
  • Customer vehicle values and road-test procedures
  • Tools, stock, drivers and loss history

Information for quotations

Describe every activity and location, leased or owned premises, stock and equipment, security, turnover and recent changes. Identify the sections requested in any existing package.

Limitations and exclusions to discuss

A package name does not confirm its selected sections. Discuss section limits, excesses, property descriptions, portable use and any interruption arrangement separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Business Pack include every topic listed here?
No. The selected sections, schedule and wording determine the proposal. Glass, theft, money and equipment questions need their own review.
Is stolen equipment the same enquiry as payment fraud?
Physical property loss and dishonest payment instructions raise different questions. Explain the facts before comparing property, crime or cyber arrangements.
